Download Black Angels’s “Waterloo Waltz” from the Upcoming Riley Hawk: Northwest Blow Out EP
The Black Angels, the reigning champions of Austin psych rock, go big on “Waterloo Waltz” from the upcoming Scion AV compilation, Riley Hawk: Northwest Blow Out EP. The group is one of four selected by pro skater Riley Hawk for the EP whose release is tied to the forthcoming Scion x Riley Hawk Driven. This video follows Hawk and the Shep Dawgs as they travel to their skateparks in the Pacific Northwest.
Following Kadaver’s “Into the Night,” which premiered last week, the Black Angels’s “Waterloo Waltz” draws you in before pummeling you with some massive riffs. For over a decade this crew has been carrying the torch for heavy Austin music and are the organizing force behind the long-running Austin Psych Fest. The two other bands that Hawk choose to be on the EP are Loom and Hot Lunch.
And if you haven’t seen it yet, check out the project car the Scion x Riley Hawk Skate Tour xB. This custom ride built by Scott Kanemura of KMA Productions integrates Hawk’s interests in ’70s style, music and skateboarding. The xB features include wood-grain décor, a mini fridge, shag carpet, an 8-track player, a big Pioneer Sound System and the ability to play a guitar through the audio system using an iPad mini as mixer. There’s also a cargo box with an INNO rack system to store skateboards.
Riley Hawk and the Shep Dawgs crew were recently interviewed by host Prince Paul on the Scion AV All Purpose Show. Expect more from this Scion Collaboration participant in the future.
